Nigeria: Unizik Students Honour Ex-Dean for Developmental Strides

The Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has honoured the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Edmund Egboh as the Most Hardworking and Outstanding Dean of the university.

Presenting the award on behalf of the student body, Dr. Ezenwa flanked by the SUG executives said the award to Egboh is in recognition of his laudable achievements while in office.

Prof. Egboh had recently upgraded and refurbished the faculty complex with interlocking blocks, asphalted roads, remodeled brick stones for student's class discussions and social activities. A new car 2011 model Toyota corolla was also provided for the succeeding dean.

Egboh while delivering his valedictory speech said he was able to achieve what he did for the faculty as a result of the approval by the vice- chancellor for him to use the internally generated revenue of the faculty to work.

He also said the projects were carried out through competitive bidding by contractors to ensure transparency and noted that students and other staff of the faculty provided the moral support which saw the actualization of the projects.

He also said the faculty has recorded achievements in other areas that cut across staff welfare, production of quality graduates in doctorate, masters and first degree levels as well as international exposure and collaborations.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Boniface Egboka while commissioning the projects and unveiling the new car described it as a marvelous work and the result of what willpower can do.

He charged other Deans and those holding different positions to always strive to make a positive difference while in office. Egboka also praised the unity of purpose existing among different departments that make up the faculty.

Ekene Urama, a 200 level student of the Department of Political Science described the new look faculty as a thing of joy. He praised Prof. Egboh for the initiative and said that it has gone a long way to complement the good works of the Vice Chancellor in providing world class academic excellence and infrastructure to the university.
