A Kenyan court on Thursday (January 4th) charged 10 more suspected arsonists in the torching of several buildings in Nairobi's Mathare slum last month that killed one person and left 70 people homeless, Kenya's Daily Nation reported.
This brings the total to 30 individuals charged in the incident. The 10 newly charged suspects include three minors and three women.
Prosecutor Onesmus Towett requested that all 30 suspects be remanded to police custody until Monday (January 7th) in order to assist police with their investigation.
Mathare was also the site of gang violence that destroyed 50 houses last week and left hundreds without shelter, an incident police are still investigating.
