Google on Thursday (January 10th) launched a special portal for following news on Kenya's March 4th general elections, Kenya's Capital FM reported.
According to Google country manager Joseph Mucheru, the new platform, dubbed the "Kenya Elections Hub", recognises that Africans are increasingly using the internet to gather information to participate in the democratic process.
"The key to Google is information, connecting users to the relevant information that they want," he said, adding that he expects the government to help safeguard against hate speech.
He said a second portal that will allow citizens to check their voter registration status will be revealed in the next several days.
