Kenyan Justice's Bodyguard Killed in Nairobi

A bodyguard for High Court Lady Justice Lydia Awino Achode was shot outside the judge's Nairobi home on Sunday (January 13th), Kenya's The Standard reported.

The bodyguard, a police sergeant, stepped out of the fenced compound when a stranger knocked on the gate and asked to speak with him. The stranger then shot the guard repeatedly and stole his rifle before driving away in a car. The sergeant was taken to Aga Khan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

"We cannot state the motive for now but officers are on the ground hunting the attackers," said head of police operations in Nairobi Wilfred Mbithi. No arrests have yet been made.
