Somalia: African Union Praises Somalia's National Security Agency

Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia Mahamet Saleh Annadif congratulated Somalia on the 41st anniversary of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the re-opening of its Mogadishu headquarters.

"The [NSA] has played a significant role in fighting terrorists and its efforts are clearly bearing fruits," Annadif said according to an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) press statement released Monday (January 7th). "I therefore wish to reaffirm AMISOM's continued commitment to working with [NSA] as Somalia moves to stabilise the country and rebuild its institutions."

The re-opening of the NSA's headquarters is symbolic of the revival of state institutions in Somalia, Annadif said.
