Nigeria: Auto Crash in Ogun, As Angry Mob Chase Away FRSC Officials

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officials were on Wednesday chased away by angry youths from an accident scene at Ilogbo Junction on the Lagos- Abeokuta express.

The FRSC, Itori Unit Commander, Mr Fatai Bakare, who confirmed this told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that two unidentified persons lost their lives in the accident.

He said that the incident happened when cement laden articulated vehicle marked EKY 103 XB collided with a commercial motorcycle at the junction leading to the loss of lives.

"Officials from the unit numbering about seven rushed to the scene of the accident to rescue victims.

"But miscreants, who were angered by the instant death of the cyclist and his passenger, used stones and sticks to chase our officials.

"FRSC officials had to disguise in a private car before they could get access to the scene of the accident to clear the road to allow free flow of traffic," he added.

Bakare said that corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of Ota General Hospital.
