Nigeria: 14 Killed in Yobe Auto Crash

Damaturu — Yobe Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Alhaji Usman Masari confirmed that fourteen people died in the accident, four of them burnt to ashes.

He said that the dead bodies were given a mass burial at Zobali town's grave-yard.

He attributed the accident to over-speeding, compounded by inadequate warning signs put by by the driver of the broken down trailer.

A witness confirmed to Daily Trust that the incident occurred around 7:30am when the 18-seater bus conveying passengers from Kano burst into flames after ramming into the broke down trailer wrongly stationed on the Kano-Maiduguri express way.

"15 people died instantly, and four others that sustained various degrees of injuries were taken to Potiskum Genaral Hospital," he said.
