Namibia: Court Docket Theft Case Postponed

Windhoek — The Windhoek Magistrate's Court yesterday once again postponed, this time to May 16, 2013 the case in which two men stand accused of stealing court dockets.

The postponement was necessitated by the fact that the legal representative of one the accused, Thomas Mutilifa (29), was not present.

The accused Mutilifa - a court interpreter - and Hafeni Kafita Kautwima (28), stand accused of stealing court dockets of cases that are currently before the same court from which the dockets vanished.

They both face charges of housebreaking. The pair allegedly broke into the office of Prosecutor Hendricks Tholiso between January 17 and January 18 last year to commit the alleged theft. The two men are out on bail of N$3 000 each.

Dockets started vanishing early last year at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court, resulting in the court implementing a raft of new and stringent security measures.
