Gambia: Bakau Resident Docked for Attempting to Kill Brother

One Badara Lowe, a resident of Bakau Newtown was on Tuesday arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, presided over by Magistrate Dayoh Small-Dago. The accused was charged with the offence of threatening violence, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of the offence stated that Badara Lowe (accused) on the 12th January 2013, at Bakau Newtown in the Kanifing Municipality, with intent to cause violence, threatened to kill his elder brother, Alhagie Ilwan Lowe with a knife, thereby committed an offence. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the prosecutor PS 1542 Mendy applied for an adjournment to call his witnesses on the next adjourned date.

The presiding magistrate further remanded the accused in prison until the next sitting for a bail to be determined. The matter was adjourned to the 21st of January 2013 for continuation.
