Cameroon: Estate Agent Vanishes With FCFA 15.000

The money was paid by a lady in search of a house to the alleged real estate agent.

Sophie N., a new resident in the economic capital is yet to fully digest her misfortune in the new town. After strenuous co-habitation with family relations and friends, she decided to find a residence of her own.Though, this does not go without hurdles.

After searching on her own in vain, she decided to engage the services of a real estate agent. After reading the various offers written on a wooden board she saw on Sunday January 13, Sophie made a choice and then called the agent. Immediately contact was made, the real estate agent requested her to pay the sum of FCFA 15.000 to open a file.

After which, he added, she would disburse to him one month's rent, depending on the agreement with her potential landlord. All of these, she accepted. But when she arrived the same spot the following day as earlier agreed, she could not find the real estate agent. All attempts to get to him by phone proved futile. At press time, she was pursuing her search for a house, while hoping to encounter the conman.
