Gambia/Senegal: Gambia 'Favourite' to Host Senegal Games

Gambia has secured the 'favourite' tagging to host two Senegal international matches among a host of options on the wish-list of the Senegalese Football Federation.

A visiting Senegalese delegation which landed at the Banjul international airport days ago inspected hotel facilities as possible destinations to lodge the Senegalese team.

An array of options including Mauritania are being considered, but Gambia tops the agenda of the Senegalese Football Federation and are undisputed 'favourites' to host Senegal's World Cup qualifier matches, an unimpeachable insider at the Gambia Football Association divulges.

"The Senegalese team are including the team coach conducted a tour at the stadium sites yesterday. They are here to for Gambia to maybe host their matches", Secretary General of the Gambia Football Association, Marcel Mendy, disclosed at a meeting held yesterday at the FA headquarters.

Senegal has been banned by Caf from hosting games at the Leopold Sedar Senghore for crowd trouble which led to the abortion of the Teranga Lions-Ivory Coast match.

To cap off an apparently heavy handed suspension, the African football body slammed a US$10,000 fine as a deterrent to any future fracas.
