Uganda: Kasese Leaders Demand Payment

The FDC's Kasese Secretary General, Johnson Kamalha, has urged President Museveni to use the 27th NRM anniversary celebrations to launch the compensation drive for all people who lost property during the NRA liberation struggle in the 1980s.

Kamalha says people from Kasese who backed the National Resistance Army to topple the Milton Obote government have not been rewarded.

"Several businessmen loaned their trucks and raised money to support the struggle and those who lost their properties should be compensated," he said.

The NRM anniversary celebrations are scheduled to be held in Kasese on January 26, 2013, with Museveni as chief guest.

However, the Kasese district chairman, Lt Col Mawa Muhindo, said the district leadership would remind the president about the construction of the airport, expediting the industrialization of Kasese and the privatization of Kilembe mines.
