Nigeria: Cynthia Osokogu - Absence of Pharmacist Stalls Arraignment

Magistrate Court adjourns till February 2013 ( Resource: Court Adjourns Cynthia Osokogu's Hearing

The arraignment of suspected killers of Miss Cynthia Osokogu, who was murdered in a hotel in Festac Town, Lagos last year before an Ikeja High Court was yesterday stalled due to the absence of Orji Osita, the pharmacist allegedly found culpable in the murder.

Osita, a pharmacist with Oxpharm Pharmacy, who later showed up after the case was adjourned by Justice Bisi Akinlade, was to be arraigned alongside two main culprits, Okwumo Echezona Nwabufo and Ezike Ikechukwu Olisaeloka, while Ezike Nonso Ifeanyichukwu was charged for receiving stolen goods.

Consequently, the court adjourned the matter till February 5, 2013.

Osita is said to be enjoying a bail condition granted him by the magistrates' court.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, had told a news conference in Lagos that all those found culpable in the killing of Cynthia would be tried for her murder based on the advise of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The DPP's advice written to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, D' Department, Panti, Yaba was signed by Mrs. M.B. Olaniyi for the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice had found Nwabufo and Olisaeloka as the main culprits for the murder of Cynthia.

The duo were found culpable of offences of murder, conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit felony to wit stealing.

On the other hand, Ifechukwu was found culpable of receiving stolen property contrary to sections 326(1) (2) law of Lagos State.
