Tunisia: Clashes Mar El Kef Strike

The El Kef general strike called by the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) turned violent on Wednesday (January 16th), Tunisie Numerique reported. Some 5,000 people took to the streets to protest economic isolation and unemployment. After the demonstrators reportedly attacked a police station, authorities responded with tear gas.
The strike was largely observed by businesses in the region.
