Nigeria: Yobe to Purchase 50 Mass Transit Buses

Damaturu — Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe has approved the procurement of fifty 16-seater buses for mass transit to reduce poverty in the state.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Alhaji Aji Bularafa who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday said the buses were purchased under state owned SURE-P programme at the cost of N425 million. He said the sum of N340 million was already released to the supplier as part payment, while the remaining twenty percent from the total amount would be remitted after the final supply.

He called on the supplier to respect the terms of contract by specifications and time frame. Bularafa also revealed that the ministry had entered a tender for the supply of additional 500 units of Tricycle Machines to provide youth with employment, reduce poverty and improved transportation system in the state.
