The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has disclosed that this year's trade fair will be held from the 2nd to 16th February 2013 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
According to theGCCI secretariat, the theme of the 2013 Trade Fair is"Expanding Business Opportunities For Enterprises For The Creation of Private Sector Jobs".
The GCCI Secretariat explained that the objective of the trade fair is to promote the creation and growth of sustainable green enterprises, create network between local enterprises with business opportunities at the international level, encourage joint ventures as well as facilitate Public Private Partnerships, champion the creation of private sector jobs and to promote the exportation of "Made in The Gambia" products.
Alongside the trade fair, the "Made in The Gambia" Wood Exhibition will also be organised by the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, and the GCCI, at the same venue.
The wood exhibition is meant to raise awareness about locally made wood products and in the process create market opportunities for producers to unleash their potentials. It is also aimed at gathering information required in developing MSME clusters as well as providing targeted support to high potential MSMEs.
According to the GCCI, visitors to the trade fair will include businessmen and women, government officials, investors, consumers and tourists. It is expected that the trade fair will attract the Gambian public and visitors from the Ecowas sub-region.
The participants at the trade fair will include Agricultural Enterprises, Banking and Financial Services, Clothing Industry, Construction Industry, Energy including Renewable Energy Industry, International Businesses, Management Services, Manufacturing Industry, Non-Governmental Associations, Pharmaceutical Industry, Public Enterprises, Science and Technology Innovations, Tourism Industry, Wood Industry and all other interested partners.
Exhibition stalls, facilities
According to the GCCI, 300 stalls will be erected by nine square metres with electricity to be provided to all stalls.
