West Africa: Ecowas to Partner European Lawmakers On MDGs

The ECOWAS Parliament will partner with the Association of Western European Parliamentarians with Africa (AWEPA) on the speedy actualisation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in West Africa.

The Speaker of the parliament, Senator Ike Ekweremadu said this during a working visit to the community parliament in Abuja by a delegation of the association earlier this week.

A statement yesterday by Ekweremadu's media aide, Uche Anichukwu, quoted him as recalling the laudable role of the association in the dismantling of apartheid in South Africa, assuring the delegation, led by the Section Head of AWEPA in Poland and Polish parliamentarian, Tadeusz Iwinski, that the ECOWAS Parliament was ready to collaborate with European parliamentarians to free the peoples of the sub-region from the clutches of poverty and diseases.
