South Africa: President Zuma Sends Condolences to People, Govt of Zim

Pretoria — President Jacob Zuma has extended his deepest condolences to the Nkomo family as well as the government and the people of Zimbabwe following the death of the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Dr John Landa Nkomo.

Dr Nkomo passed away on Thursday. Media reports said he died at St Anne's hospital in Harare after a long battle with cancer.

He served in various capacities in the Government of Zimbabwe, including as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister and Minister.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation said Dr Nkomo will also be remembered for the important role he played in shaping the course of Zimbabwe's history.

"Our thoughts go out to the entire Nkomo family and the people of Zimbabwe," said Zuma in a statement on Friday.
