Anele Ngcongca of South Africa, left, tangles with Heldon of Cape Verde during opening match of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Bafana Bafana found it very difficult to score a goal why because the small team who is Cape Verde is not giving them the chance to score them. Also they failed to create chance for themselves in Johannesburg rain.

From the look of things, we can see that South African team which is Bafana Bafana they look very disappointed.

Cape Verde had the best opportunity of the game, with striker Platini dragging his close-range shot badly wide. Also despite all this Cape Verde has been under a lot of pressure under South Africa since the half-time.

First booking picks up by Platini who is Cape Verde player in the tournament after a silly push on Khune goalkeeper of Bafana Bafana.

This was a whole new experience for Cape Verde; they looked to cause damage at the end of the half with a free kick.

In the 44the minute A Ngcongca picked the first yellow card of the tournament for a rash challenge on Platini

46th minute Substitution - Kagisho Dikgacoi out and Lerato Chabango in.

A bit more urgency in this South African team at the beginning of the second part of the match with Siphiwe Tshabalala having plenty of the balls looking for a side to fall on.

60th minute Platini from Cape Verde first booking the tournament after a push on Goalkeeper Khune.

60th minute Substitution - Lawrence Siphiwe Tshabalala out and Thulani Serero in. Coach Gordon Igesund makes a second substitution

63rd minute Substitution -Platini in and Julio Tavares out

Lucio Antunes makes a first substitution for Cape Verde, bringing on Julio Tavares for Platini.

68th minute Substitution M. Majoro Katlego Mphela

Final roll of the dice for Gordon Igesund as Katlego Mphela comes on to replace Majoro. Can the Mamelodi Sundowns striker be the hero for the host nation? For those of you who don't remember, Mphela scored the winner in South Africa's 2-1 World Cup victory over France.

76th minute Substitution - Héldon Ramos out and David Silva in

Heldon, who has been impressive for Cape Verde today, has finished his shift and he is hauled off in place of David Silva

A chorus of boos echoes around the FNB Stadium to silence the vuvuzuelas. Outsiders Cape Verde claim a point in their first ever African Cup of Nations finals match with a 0-0 stalemate against hosts South Africa. In truth, it was hardly a classic with both sides failing to fashion too many clear-cut goal scoring opportunities and you feel that they will need to improve if they are to advance to the group stages.
