Tanzania: Accident Claims One, Injures Six in Dar

ONE person died while six others were injured in a road accident in Kinondoni Municipality on Thursday night, Dar es Salaam police have confirmed.

The accident occurred along Bagamoyo Road at Africana in Mbezi Beach at around 11:45pm when two vehicles collided head-on.

The Kinondoni Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Charles Kenyela, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that a man identified as Hatibu Halfan (33), a resident of Tegeta who was driving a Suzuki with registration number T 707 BYV, died on the spot.

"The deceased's vehicle collided with a Nissan Civilian, registration number T 377 AKB, which was being driven by one Saimoni Cosmas (35), a resident of Tegeta who was heading to Kawe from Tegeta," he said.

However, the driver of the Nissan Civilian was injured and was rushed to Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) for treatment, while five other passengers who were injured were rushed to Mwananyamala Hospital and discharged after treatment.
