Kenya: Narok Traders Accuse Contractor for Delayed Drainage Repair Works

TRADERS in Narok town have accused a contractor awarded a tender to improve the town's drainage system of delaying repair works.

Addressing a joint press conference in Narok town yesterday, the traders expressed fears the council will soon be dissolved and no one will be held responsible.

Led by local Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman William ole Supeyo and Narok Taxi Association chairman Jonathan Kuntai, they asked the local town council to revoke the contract saying the contractor has disappeared from the site.

"The contractor has failed to meet the deadline and disappeared after demolishing the existing culverts. Nothing has been going on for the last two months and these gaping holes are a danger to residents," they said.
