Korean phone maker, LG Electronics, is set to introduce its latest LG Optimus G smartphone in Kenya towards the end of February.This will add to the growing brands of LTE-enabled handsets in Kenya.
The Optimus G has been feted at the just-concluded Consumer Electronics Show Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards in the wireless handsets category.
The feature-rich smartphone has received various accolades since its launch in the third quarter of last year.The smartphone received a Korea Electronic Show Innovation Award for its Zerogap Touch technology, which improves the durability and clarity of the display by eliminating air gaps found in other touchscreens.
It also received the iF Design Product Award in November 2012 and it is ULE Platinum Certified for the environmental friendliness of the Sprint version of the Optimus G in the USA.
"Our company's mobile expertise and innovative technologies are the basis of these accomplishments," said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"I am confident LG can lead the next stage of the global LTE smartphone market with competitiveness in hardware technologies and enhanced UX features that were first introduced in the Optimus G."
The gadget was also selected as the best Android smartphone by Korean consumers beating strong handheld devices from competing manufacturers.
