Kenya: Wako Sails Unopposed in Busia

FORMER Attorney General Amos Wako secured a direct ODM ticket for the Busia senator after his two challengers defected to other parties.

Wako's competitors, Chris Okemo defected to Ford Kenya while Susan Mang'eni joined the Labour Party of Kenya. The only other candidate in the senator race is Narc-Kenya's Faith Maumoh who had no opponent.

Labour assistant minister Sospeter Ojaamong got the governor's ticket after he won in Teso North, South, Nambale and Budalang'i.

Florence Mutua Wainga is set to get the women's representative ticket after winning in Teso North and Nambale. Mang'eni said she defected to LPK to forestall machinations in the ODM party.
