Kenya: Mwingi Voters Snub Nomination

Mwingi North constituency results have been nullified following several complaints from the voters and aspirants.

The voters did not show up even after a repeat of the nominations being set to be yesterday.

"The problem started with the dispatch of the materials from Kyuso police station. The whole exercise was a mess," said one Kambua Musee who is aspiring for a Member of Parliament seat in the area.

She said in the first place, when the presiding officers went for the materials they were told that they will be paid only Sh 2000 for two days. They declined and started negotiating until 11.00am when the distribution of the materials started.

She said another problem was insufficient supply of materials where several polling stations received around 200-300 ballot papers yet the voters were more than 1000.
