Kenya: Nyeri Barclays Bank Staff Deny Stealing Sh9 Million

FOUR Barclays Bank of Kenya employees were yesterday charged in a Nyeri court with stealing more than Sh9 million from the institution.

Patrick Wanjohi, Angello Adano, Timothy Mbaabu and Sammy Maina, who are cashiers, denied stealing Sh9,956,012 between June last year and January 2.

Their lawyer, Remigeo Mugambi, asked the court to release the accussed on bond. He said Maina, the fourth suspect, was posted to the bank last December and cannot be accussed of stealing more than Sh350,000.

Chief magistrate Wilbrodah Juma released Wanjohi, Adano and Mbaabu on a Sh1 million bond and a sureity of a simmilar amount. Maina was released on a Sh500,000 bond. The case will be heard on March 5.
