Kenya: Ekirapa Wins Close Teso Contest

TESO North parliamentary aspirant Albert Ekirapa beat George Okwara by 125 votes to win the ODM ticket in a close contest.

Ekirapa emerged winner with 5,578 votes against Okwara's 5,453 and John Imoite's 4,225.

Okwara and Imoite however questioned the validity of 2,054 votes Ekirapa won in Adumai and Chelelemuk polling centers and appealed for their nullification.

Returning officer Herman Onyango had cancelled the Adumai results which Ekirapa had scored 314. Onyango had sugested that the matter be referred to the county arbitration committee which Okwara accepted.

However, Ekirapa agreed with Onyango that the results be cancelled. Okwara termed the elections a 'sham' saying he will appeal against the outcome.
