Kenya: The Colourful Masol Cultural Festival

The colourful Masol Cultural Festival was held last weekend at Kamanau Primary School in Sigor Constituency in West Pokot.

The event was an initiative of the Masol Peace and Development Initiative whose objective is to spearhead development activities in the region.

It also aims at sensitising the community to discard retrogressive cultural practices that have hindered development in the larger Pokot region.

The event was used to showcase the Pokot artifacts, traditional songs, food and drinks. Men and women in traditional attires participated in a beauty contest.

The function was attended by former Public Works PS Prof John Lonyang'apuo, former MPs Samwel Moroto and Philip Rotino,the programme officer of Brand Kenya Richard Krop, the West Pokot County Game Warden Tom Amisi and former Pokot County Clerk Lilian Plapan.
