Kenya: Mungatana's Case to Go Ahead

THE Director of Public Prosecutions yesterday opposed an application by outgoing Garsen MP Danson Mungatana to postpone his case till after the general election.

Mungatana, through his lawyer Jared Magolo, had applied for the adjournment of the case in which he has been charged with issuing dud cheques worth Sh2.1 million.

State lawyer Alexander Jami said furthers will pervert justice.

He asked the court to expedite the case which has dragged on three years

Senior principle magistrate Richard Odenyo directed the case to be mentioned on February 14 before the trial court to set a hearing date.

Mungatana allegedly issued three dud Sh700,000 cheques to Chwile Investments on June 20, 2011,
