Egypt, Malaysia Discuss Boosting Bilateral Cooperation

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr on Thursday 17/01/2013 met with his Malaysian counterpart Anifah Aman on ways of boosting bilateral relations.

The Minister hailed the Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation as 'strong', saying that the Malaysian investments in Egypt were discussed during the meeting.

"There is a possibility to increase the Malaysian investments in Cairo and a meeting of the Egyptian-Malaysian business council will be held soon in this regard," Amr said.

The meeting also tackled aspects of cooperation in the fields of electronics, communications and energy, Amr added.

For his part, the Malaysian minister said that it has not been decided yet if Malaysia's prime minister will take part in an Islamic summit due in Cairo on February 6 and 7.

He asserted that his country looks forward to establishing an Al-Azhar University branch in Malaysia.
