Tanzania: Tegete Stars As Yanga Win

STRIKER Jerryson Tegete scored a brace as Kagame Cup champions fresh from their two-week Turkey camp beat visiting South Africa's Black Leopards 3-2 in a friendly match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Holding midfielder Frank Domayo scored his first goal for Yanga, while Black Leopards goals were scored by Humphrey Khoza and Rodney Romagalela. The match started at a slow pace but gained momentum as time went by as both sides pressed forward to score an early goal but it was Yanga who looked more determined to score.

Tegete, who seems to have hit back his top form, scored the opener for Yanga in the 33rd minute from a spot kick. Match referee Hashim Abdallah from Dar es Salaam awarded Yanga the penalty after playmaker Haruna Niyonzima was fouled in the area by defender Nkosiyaba Xakane.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of Yanga at the break On resumption, Yanga coach Dutchman Ernie Brandts made some few changes, resting keeper Ally Mustafa 'Bartez' and brothers Mbuyu and Kabange Twite, introducing Simon Msuva, Juma Abdul and goalie Said Mohamed. Careless defending by Yanga during the opening stages of the second half proved costly as the visitors equalized.

They hit the host on the break when Humphrey Khoza headed home just three minutes from the restart. Yanga pressured few minutes later and got the second goal in the 63rd minute through Domayo, who slotted in after connecting Niyonzima's cross from the right.

The Jangwani Street side continued to torment their opponents and wasted several glorious chances but then Tegete found the back of the net in 72nd minute after he slammed in a well measured cross from defender Juma Abdul. However, in the 88th minute defender Nadir Haroub 'Cannavaro' bundled down Humphrey Khoza in the area and referee awarded Leopards a penalty.
