Nigeria Women League Begins in March

The Board of the Nigeria Women League has fixed Saturday 2nd March 2013 as the kick- off date for the 2012/2013 Women Professional League.

Announcing this after the Board meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the League Secretary Isaac Ajisafe said registration of clubs would begin on Tuesday 22nd January, 2013, and will end on Monday 18th February, 2013.

He said that the registration fees would be N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) per club.

The scribe said "the Board also resolved that the Congress of the League would hold immediately after the Africa Nations Cup where some other vital decisions as resolved by the Board would be ractified.

"We are also expecting that draws of League season would be held during the Congress".

He finally advised clubs to visit the League Secretariat at the NFF Technical Centre, Package 'B'

Abuja National Stadium to effect their registrations.

Eagles will fly

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women League Board Chief (Mrs) Dilichukwu Onyedinma has expressed optimism on the abilities of the Super Eagles to emerge as champions in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations holding in South Africa.

Speaking in Abuja, the NFF Executive Committee Member said the Super Eagles have all it takes to overcome all oppositions from other participating countries to win the trophy for the country for the third time.

"I am not expressing any fears whatsoever on the abilities of the Super Eagles to perform maximally in the tournament. Our players are capable, and the technical crew headed by Stephen Keshi has shown to the whole world of its readiness to excel with the team, and most importantly, the NFF has given them all the enabling environment to perform."

"I am very optimistic that the boys would return to Nigeria with the trophy" she concluded.
