Egypt: Presidential Advisor - Remittances 'Rose to Historic High' in 2012

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad rose to a historic high in 2012, spiking from 14.3 billion dollars in 2011 to 19.5 billion dollars in 2012, said the presidential adviser for Egyptian expatriates' affairs Ayman Ali.

In a statement Saturday 19/01/2013, Ali hailed the Egyptian expatriates who transfer their savings to their homeland.

Ali also hailed the expatriates' sense of responsibility in supporting the national economy during such a difficult phase.

Remittances are an important tributary to the Egyptian economy and a solid source of hard currency.
