Egypt: Electricity Minister - We Aim to Save 150 Megawatts in Coming Period

Minister of Electricity and Energy Ahmed Imam has said the ministry aims to save 150 megawatts of power in the coming period.

Speaking to the Egyptian TV, Imam added that the ministry will replace sodium-vapor lamps, used in lighting streets with energy-saving light bulbs as part of a national program to rationalize consumption.

This will be applied to all street lights across the country, he said.

The Minister expects that such steps to reduce consumed watts will save the country up to 25 million dollars.
