Egypt, Qatar Sign Cooperation Protocol for Gaza Reconstruction

The Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza signed a cooperation protocol on Gaza reconstruction with the Arab Contractors.

Under the sponsorship of Egypt's Housing Ministry, the deal is a bid to make use of a 400-million-dollar Qatari grant to Palestinians living in the blockaded coastal enclave.

Egypt and Qatar attach great importance to taking all possible ways to alleviate the plight of the Palestinian people, said Housing Minister Tarek Wafik.

The protocol came to implement Qatar's pledge to reconstruct the Gaza Strip through building roads, housing units and a hospital, he added.
