Uganda: Rally Season to Open in February

Registration for the Mbarara pine ridge rally is underway, the Federation of Motor-sport Uganda (FMU) has announced.

The rally, which will be the season opener, was won by Jas Mangat, last year. He eventually turned out to be the National Rally Champion. Haji Juma Nkambwe, the FMU publicist is unhappy that few drivers are showing keen interest in registering yet it is less than a month to the rally.

Yet at a retreat course for drivers held at Essella country resort hotel two weeks ago, drivers were warned that FMU would be very strict on late registration. Any driver who may want to register six days before a rally event will not be allowed. The deadline to registering for a rally event will be seven days before the event, according to the FMU. This new law will take centre stage in the entire 2013 rally season.
