Nigeria: FCT Election - CPC Candidate Set to Revamp Agriculture in Gwagwalada

Malam Ibrahim Yahaya, a chairmanship candidate in Gwagwalada, said on Sunday that he would boost agriculture in the Area Council.

Yahaya, the CPC flag bearer, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

He said that Gwagwalada, being an agrarian community, should capitalise on the huge FCT Municipal population to upgrade its agricultural potential.

"It is indeed time to surmount the major challenges facing the production capacity of farmers in the area," he said.

Yahaya said that if elected, his administration would adopt a new measure in fertiliser acquisition and distribution.

He said that credit scheme for small and medium scale farmers would be introduced.

"We will ensure proper supervision in the way and manner fertilisers are purchased and distributed so that the product gets to the farmers at the grass roots.

"We shall also make funds available to farmers to expand their farms for sustained food production," he said.
