Egypt: Shura Council Approves Elections Law Amendments

At its session yesterday 19/1/2013, the Shura council under Dr. Ahmed Fahmi approved the election law amendments. The upper house referred the bill to the supreme constitutional law.

A draft law article to sack lawmakers of the parliament if they change their party membership after elections was turned down by the Shura Council on Saturday.

As many as 121 members attending a session to debate the bill rejected the article compared to 84 "yes" votes with one sustained.

Pope Tawadros II receives congratulations on Feast of Epiphany

Pope Tawadros II welcomed on Saturday 19/1/2013 official and public figures who have visited Saint Mark Catheral to offer him their warm congratulations on the Feast of Epiphany.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese Friday led the Mass of Epiphany at St. Mark Cathedral in Alexandria. Hundreds of priests took part in the ceremony.
