Maiduguri — Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect yesterday launched an attack at a mechanical workshop in Bulunkutu area of Maiduguri where they killed a resident who took his car for repairs.
Witnesses said a mechanic was also hit by a stray bullet when the gunmen fired several gunshots at their target around 10:25am.
It was gathered that the victim was trailed to the garage by three gunmen who rode on a tricycle and thereafter fled towards Gomari area.
Unconfirmed sources alleged that the victim was an informant of security agents and the gunmen had earlier warned him in a letter in September last year.
Though there was no official statement from the Joint Task Force (JTF) on the killing, security operatives have cordoned off the mechanic garage and adjoining plots, a development which forced traders and artisans to leave their businesses.
