Kenya: City Council Workers On Strike

City Hall: Council workers have downed their tools over pay.

Council workers are on a nationwide strike. Operations have been brought to a halt in in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret among other areas as the workers demand for a pay increment.

In Nairobi, operations at City Hall, City council hospitals and the city mortuary have been paralyzed as they down their tools. Here is local government workers secretary general Festus Ngari.

Meanwhile Nairobi town clerk Tom Odongo says several employees will be arrested and suspended for vandalizing council property early today when they forcefully ejected their counterparts from the offices.
