The Law Reform Commission (LRC)in collaboration with the Governance Commission (GC) and the Constitution Review Committee (CRC) will hold a two-day symposium on methodologies to review the January 6, 1986 Liberian Constitution.
A release said the symposium is slated for this week and will be held under the Theme: "Developing an approach to review the 1986 Constitution."
The symposium is aimed at providing greater opportunity for a broader discourse, strengthening the capacity of support institutions to CRC and developing mechanisms for the development of technical subcommittees for the review process.
The delegation from the Center for Constitutional Democracy, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana, U.S.A. headed by its Executive Director Professor David C. Williams will serve as facilitators.
The Center for Constitutional Democracy (CCD) team while in Liberia would conduct training to build the capacity of LRC staff in various areas of legal reform, hold working sessions and meetings with sponsors and stakeholders.
The Government of Liberia commissioned the review of the 1986 Constitution with the aimed of addressing the country's current needs as well as those of the future.

Dr. Sawyer, Let me recommend the follow inputs for the constitution: 1. All Liberians at the county levels should be allow to vote for their own superintendents, city mayors, city council, Police chief, and sheriff. 2. The president of Liberia shall not appoint city mayors, superintendents, or any county officials.
3. Let those elected for each county manage the county funds for development purpose with the help of the Liberian Government. The President shall not intervene in prosecuting any corrupt officials of government at both the county and the national levels. 4. Public officials slaries and benefits should be public records and made accessible to all Liberians at Libraries and at universities or colleges. 5. The President of Liberia shall not appoint any of her relatives or children for cabinet position, public agencies, etc. 6. The National Election Commission shall be an independent body whose members shall be composed of qualified Liberians who shall be sent to the senate for confirmaation. These members cannot be nominated by the president. NEC should be renamed Independent Electoral Commission. 7. The president must execute the laws of the land.
