Gambia: Assault Case Reaches Court

A man called Dawda Touray of Brikama was recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court on a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties.

The particulars of offence read that on 12 October 2012, at Kafuta Kharafi Farm, the accused, Dawda Touray, assaulted one Amadou Camara by giving him a blow on his face.

Hearing was adjourned till 30 January 2013.

In a separate development, one Biran Waggeh was also arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court charged with stealing.

The charge sheet read that the accused, Biran Waggeh, on 13 December 2012, at Brikama, stole 15 logs of timber valued at D9,000, being the property of one Yaya Camara.

Hearing continues on 30 January 2013.
