Gambia: Woman Arraigned for Fraud

A woman called Tida Hydara was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court on a charge of obtaining goods by false pretence.

The charge sheet read that in September 2012, the accused, Tida Hydara, took 240 gallons of palm oil from one Mariama Sireh Bah of London Corner valued at D297,000 and refused to pay the said amount.

She denied the charge and was granted court bail of D500,000 with two Gambian sureties who must swear to an affidavit of means and deposit ID cards.

Hearing was adjourned till 23 January 2013.
