Angola: 'Aldeia Nova' Project Yields 60, 000 Eggs/Day

Luanda — The "Aldeia Nova" project in the municipality of Cela, coastal Kwanza Sul province currently records a daily production of around 60 000 eggs.

The data were released Monday by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Pedro Canga at the meeting on assessment and discussion of the General State Budget (OGE) 2013.

The minister said that this production follows the re-launch of the project that had some difficulties due to the production costs.

He said that at a certain stage of the operation of the project the sector found a high production cost induced by generators as an alternative source of electricity.

After the revival of the project, the official said, the monthly income for each beneficiary (former-soldiers) already vary between 100,000 and 120,000 kwanzas.

As the projects progress the income for beneficiaries tend to increase, underlined Pedro Canga.

As for the revival project of cotton in the Gangula commune, also in the province of Kwanza Sul, the minister mentioned the ongoing construction of a transmission line of electricity to allow the start of the project.
