Angola: Fans Praise Performance of Sable Antelopes

Luanda — Various fans manifested Sunday in Luanda satisfaction with the behavior and performance of the Angolan national soccer team in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON2013), that is happening in South Africa, despite the 0-0 draw at the opening match with Morocco.

In a report conducted by Angop at the main avenues and districts of the country's capital city, after the group A match at Soccer City stadium, Johannesburg, the interviewees, mainly young people, were unanimous in highlighting the national team's posture.

While recognizing the potential of the Maghreb team, which in the initial phase of the challenge created some difficulties for Angolans, the interviewees, including some women, have reported that the players led by the Uruguayan coach Gustavo Ferrin, almost achieved a victory.

The former chairman of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) Armando Machado, who stressed the possibility of the team going to the next stage of the competition, stated that the players demonstrated cohesiveness and combative spirit.
