Kenya: Ruth and Oburu Told to Give Up Nominations

ODM yesterday dropped assistant Finance Minister Oburu Oginga and his rival William Oduol in the Siaya governor race from the orange ticket.

This comes after Prime minister Raila Odinga's sister Ruth Odhiambo Odinga announced she was pulling out of the Kisumu race at a for governor at a press conference yesterday conceding defeat to Jack Ranguma.

However former Gem MP Jakayo Midiwo whose nomination was also disputed has been allowed to defend his seat. On Sunday violence broke out in Kisumu after it was rumoured that Ruth, Midiwo and Oburu had all been nominated by ODM to be the the party candidates in the elections
