Nigeria: Health, Agric Ministries to Partner On Save a Million Lives Project

Abuja — The Federal Ministry of Health has conclude plans to partner with the Federtal Ministry of Agriculture to take advantage of its GSM phone for famers project to channel health information to pregnant women, under its Save a Million Lives Project.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources plans to acquire 60 million mobile phones for rural farmers as part of its project to improve distribution of farm imputs and farmers access to vital information.

Speaking at a meeting with the United Nations Foundation, led by the Executive Director of Health Alliance, Patricia Mechael, Minister of State for Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, said the collaboration would ensure that pregnant women and children got health information when and where they needed it.
