There was a pandemonium in Kano when an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in a new generation bank Monday resulting in an early closure of banks in the state.

All the banks situated along Murtala Mohammed Way, Kano hurriedly close their operations because of the bomb scare.

"Information reached the command through a good Samaritan that a suspected object was seen abandoned in a black nylon by the roadside close to one of the new generation banks along Murtala Mohammed Way Kano. Immediately Anti-bomb Disposal Unit were mobilised and secured the whole area after confirming the object to be a bomb," the State Police Command said in a press statement signed by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Musa Magaji Majia.

"It was taken to a safe area and detonated successfully without damage or any injury," the statement added.

Assuring that "normalcy has already been restored and the public are going about their normal activities," the police command urged "the good citizens to report to the police and other security agencies of any suspected object, items or parcel."
