South Africa: Zuma Honoured With Afcon Silver Plate

Pretoria — The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) has honoured President Jacob Zuma with the Silver Plate of the 29th edition of the Afcon tournament.

The award is a gesture of appreciation for displaying good cooperation and support for the 2013 Afcon tournament currently underway in South Africa.

Other award recipients included Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula, African Union (AU) Commission chairperson, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, South African Football Association (Safa) President, Kirsten Nematandani, and General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football Mr Hicham El Amrani.

The prestigious awards were presented at the official opening of the 2013 Afcon match between South Africa and Cape Verde at the National stadium last Saturday.
