Kenya: Demons Row Stops Classes At Mwatate School

Parents of a school in Mwatate have threatened to withdraw children due to attacks by evil spirits.

Learning at Mwakinyungu primary school was last week disrupted after parents withdrew children from the school after bouts of fainting that have persisted for the last three months.

Last week, a vicar at Mwakinyungu ACK church barred a traditionalist who had been hired by parents to cast away the demons. A senior police officer told the Star angry residents destroyed property at the Vicar's house before he was rescued by police.

"Since the school is under the church, the vicar barred the traditionalist known as Bebabeba from casting away the spirits, prompting angry residents to attack him," police said.
