Kenya: Two Boys Drown in Malaba

TWO boys have drowned on their way back home after visiting a cargo train accident scene at Lupida. Godwin Elung'ata, 9, and David Kirui, 8, followed other children to the crash site where the Malaba-bound train had derailed.

Elung'ata's father, Anthony Okwii, of Kotur location in Teso South fainted on seeing the lifeless body of the son and was taken to Amukura mission hospital where nurses said he was out of danger.

A human rights activist, Geoffrey Odeke, said the boys looked jovial at the accident scene . Godwin, a standard two pupil at Mayi Academy, was dressed in a red shirt and purple trousers uniform while Kirui was in civilian clothes. David's father Peter Kabasele of market B in Lupida sub location said his son and cousin had never visited the Nauria area.
